Paramedic service Netcare 911 reported that a baby was found in Jukskei River in Waterval, Midrand on Thursday evening.
According to him, the baby was caught with a net used in collecting dirt from the river, but the Paramedics found no traces of life.
“Circumstances leading up to the incident will be thoroughly looked into by the authorities,” said Herbst.
