Stars Hit Rosario As Messi Weds Childhood Sweetheart, Antonella Roccuzzo

Lionel Messi ‘s teammates past and present have touched down in Argentina ahead of the Barcelona star’s wedding.
Stars across the football and entertainment worlds gather in the northern argentina city of Rosario on Friday for Latin America’s celebrity wedding bash of the decade when Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi weds his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo.

Excited locals watched as players arrived dressed in caps, hoods and dark sunglasses, with suitcases in hand.

Messi’s present and former Barca teammates Luis Suarez, Carles Puyol and Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas disembarked at the small airport in the northern city of Rosario, with the likes of Neymar and Xavi Hernandez expected among the 260 guests at Friday’s wedding at the Hotel City Centre Casino, AFP writes.

Also expected among the wedding guests – and sure to draw the attention of starstruck fans at the airport – are Messi’s teammate Gerard Pique and his wife, Colombian pop star Shakira.

“Is that Neymar or Xavi? Ah, whatever, take a photo all the same,” said one local woman to her grandchildren as they watched from the terminal.

Local reporters broadcasting from the scene are already calling it the “the wedding of the century” for Rosario, with authorities doubling security at key points in a region with homicide rate twice the national rate.

Messi, 30, and his childhood sweetheart Roccuzzo, 29, return every year to visit their families, and are now set to light up their beloved city with their love story.
