Young Thug is yet another rapper from the ATL who is enjoying a stellar year where his music is concerned. His album, Beautiful Thugger Girls, took his sound into a different direction that has at once earned him more cred among his peers and also made some die-hard fans scratch their heads in bewilderment. However, it has done well in terms of streaming numbers and, when looked at together with his litany of features over the course of the first seven months of 2017, it’s a very solid body of work. When his birthday came around earlier this week, Thugger definitely took the opportunity to celebrate, but probably not in the way most people would’ve expected.
According to TMZ, the rapper threw a huge party at The Tago International Center in Atlanta Wednesday night to mark his turning 26. The venue, located right across the street from 2 Chainz’s 11th Street Studios, was where he laid his claim for the title of Son of the Year. At one point in the evening, sources say that he gifted his mother not 10, not 20, but $50,000. It was a gesture that went above and beyond just throwing a good party, which also saw T.I., Young Dolph and Jacquees make appearances over the course of the night. It’s safe to say that Young Thug not only believes in giving back to his family, but downright spoiling them rotten.
The summer has been an eventful one for the rapper in other respects as well. Besides his ever-growing music career, he also starred in a new Adidas campaign ad alongside 21 Savage, Playboi Carti and others. In addition to that, he’ll be making an appearance with Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and a host of other big rap names at this year’s Rolling Loud Bay Area show – an event that promises to be an absolute smasher of a concert.
