Nairobi businessman Chris Kirubi on Monday posted a moving video clip urging investors in his company, Centum PLC, to get screened for cancer.
In his emotional appeal, Mr Kirubi regretted that he could not attend a crucial annual meeting that was held on September 13 due to the condition of his health.
“I am not coming to the meeting because my resistance levels are too low, therefore, it would be very easy for me to pick up any germs that may be in a large crowd.

“I’m missing you, I’d like to be with you and I’m asking God to help you simply because our investors have a good story to tell us and I want you to support them as I support them and we will make a great company in the future and now, may God bless you, have a nice time and go home happy people, say hi to your families and by next year I will be in that meeting, I’m looking forward to it,” he stated.

Kirubi repeatedly mentioned that early diagnosis is the key to fighting cancer in the country, he recommended blood testing as a good way to get an early diagnosis.
“I’d like all our members to survive and that’s why I’m appealing, as one of the victims, to you to make sure that you do not have to undergo a major attack of cancer. Cancer is a disease that can be taken care of if we got to the doctor to check our blood from time to time to make us aware of what is happening to our bodies…I’d not like any of the investors in our business get cancer.
“I’d like you to think of me, to see me as a reminder that cancer can be cured and I want you to believe in it by taking care of your body,” he appealed.

Mr Kirubi has been undergoing treatment for cancer for over a year, having sought specialized treatment in America.
