Decades back Ghanaian gospel musicians were highly recognized for wearing long dresses and skirts, light or no makeup, no artificial hair or nails, and vocalized spirit-filled songs.
Celebrated gospel artiste, Ceecy Twum has responded to the numerous criticisms from most Ghanaians against modern gospel musicians.
In an interview with MC KiKi on Sky 102.1 in the United States, Ceccy stated that there is nothing wrong with gospel musicians dressing well and looking appealing.
The gospel musicians in Ghana seem to be following the trend of secular artistes by copying their style of dressing and Ceccy has said that the fact that they look appealing does not mean they are ‘slay-queens’
According to Ceccy Twum, it is not fitting for people to label female gospel musicians who have good fashion sense as ‘Slay Queen’.
Cece Twum explained that the world is changing and revolving as such they can’t keep to the old style of dressing which makes them look old and fretted.
She, therefore, emphasized that God does not hate good dressing as long as it doesn’t expose certain vital parts of the body of the artiste and added that a good dressing indicates how God has blessed his children.
Ceccy Twum lamented that the criticisms targeted at female gospel musicians in the country are too much and perhaps that has accounted for the seeming fall of the industry.
