Career

In the 1990s, Balwani worked at Microsoft and Lotus Software. While working at Microsoft, Balwani was in charge of sales. Independent investigations were unable to validate his claims of writing tens of thousands of lines of code, and other Microsoft executives who were questioned about him were unable to identify him. While working at Microsoft, he fell in love with Japanese artist Keiko Fujimoto, and they married. He joined CommerceBid.com as President in late 1999. It was a software development company that assisted businesses in making purchases and sales via online auctions on the then-new Internet. In 1999, Commerce One, another highly respected business development software firm, purchased the company..
