Nigerian Foremost female prowess, ASA releases her new and latest album called “V”
Asa has premiered the tracklist as well released her new album titled “V”, which is a follow-up to her Lucid project from 2019.
In December 2021 Asa had an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the Black Box Interview, the Jailer singer stated that her new album will be titled V and would be released in early 2022.
Asa announced the release date for V on Twitter on February 25th, along with the album tracklist.
Top Nigerian talents including as Grammy winner Wizkid, Nigerian highlife group The Cavemen, and Ghanian artist Amaarae make guest appearances on the 10-track album.
The singer-characteristic songwriter’s smokey vocals are paired with breezy explorations of love in this colorful confluence of genres, styles, and generations.
“V is about pleasure, love, friendship, and a lot of joy,” she says in an interview with Apple Music. “It’s new and exciting, but it’s also something you’ve seen before. I’m only demonstrating my willingness to go with the flow.”
Her sense of flow is influenced by her location as well as her sense of freedom.
“Writing these songs at home meant that the soil, air, food, and sun all played a part in the making of this record,” she explains.
“I wrote the entire album in front of water, and I think it helped a lot with the songs since I was so relaxed.” On V, you’ll hear a lot about the seclusion I adore.”
While the global epidemic may be associated with solitude, Aa’s postponed tour resulted in unexpected collaborations with Wizkid (“IDG”), Amaarae (“All I Ever Wanted”), and modern highlife ensemble The Cavemen (“Good Times”).
“It was as though this album had taken on a life of its own.” “A lot of the music was created outside of the box, which is something I’m not used to,” Asa says.
P.Priime, a 19-year-old producer, also produce many of the tracks.
